Paul Mizen

Paul Mizen has been a member of the faculty in the School of Economics at Nottingham since 1992 and is currently Professor of Monetary Economics and Director of the Centre for Finance, Credit and Macroeconomics. He is a former Bank of England economist and has previously taught at the European University Institute, Florence; Princeton University; and University of Vienna. He has a wide interest in matters related to monetary policy, central banking, financial markets, corporate finance, credit markets and financial crises. Professor Mizen has contributed to expert panels at the European Central Bank, the Bank of England and the UK government Department of Business Innovation and Skills and has held research positions at the U.S. Federal Reserve, the Deutsche Bundesbank, the European Central Bank, the Bank of England, the International Monetary Fund and a number of other central banks and universities. He was the inaugural 200th Anniversary Visiting Professor at the Central Bank of Austria in 2016. He is the Chairman of the Money, Macro and Finance Research Group and principal investigator for the ESRC funded Decision Maker Panel in collaboration with Nick Bloom, Stanford and the Bank of England. He has published 6 books and more than 100 articles on various aspects of monetary economics. His work has been translated into Chinese, Japanese and Spanish. He is ranked in the top 10% of economists in the Europe by IDEAS.
